About the project

adidas developed a fabric printing technology that allows crisp, high quality images to be printed on the shoes’ upper. The ambition was to promote this technology in an innovative way by allowing consumers to customize the ZX Flux shoe using this technology. So, we created an app where shoe lovers were able to create their own personalized trainers by capturing new pictures or uploading existing images. In the end users are able to see the 3D render of the shoe in real time, share their creation and even purchase it via the app.

My role

As the design director I was tasked to develop the initial user experience and define the visual language. I drew wireframes alongside our UX designer, lead the project from the visual perspective designing custom logos and icons, developed visual explorations, and also directed animations and app functionality.

The Case Study

into what it took to make the app.

Overview Screens

The app had three main screens. Each screen was intended to
lead the user to either create, explore or purchase.
